For this week’s, Model Mondays, I choseĀ Ubah Hassan. Ubah Hassan was born in Somalia in 1987 where she lived with her family until 1991. In 1991, due to political unrest the family was forced to split up and Ubah moved with her father, and younger brother to neighboring Kenya. In 2001, the family was reunited in Canada. In fact, it was in Canada that Ubah was discovered as a model.
Ubah signed with Click Model Management in 2007 and since then she’s appeared in advertising campaigns, magazine editorials, and on the runways of various high end designers. Ubah has modeled for Lucky Brand Jeans and Polaroids. She’s also appeared on the cover of African fashion magazine, Arise and she was the face of the 2009 Ralph Lauren Ad Campaign.
Ubah has walked the runways of Oscar de la Renta, Ralph Lauren, and Chado Ralph Rucci. Ubah has a gorgeous face and it is her nose, lips, and cheekbones that are her best features. She has a beautiful face that can be enhanced with make-up or played down and she will still look stunning. In ad campaigns, she knows how to appear more lighthearted and happy while she dons an edgier attitude for editorials and the runway.
I’m not sure what 2011 has in store for Ubah, but, I’m hoping it’s something great. Until keep your eyes open for Ms. Hassan in upcoming editorials and New York Fashion Week.
