In this post, K-Penny: My Ult K-POP Groups, I share my all time favorite K-POP groups aka “my ults”. For those that don’t know, ult for K-POP fans is short for ultimate and it’s how one refers to their favorite group(s).
I decided to create this post because I’ve realized that following K-POP groups is time consuming and expensive so I decided to narrow it down. I wrote a list of my ults and from here on, I’d like to focus on them while occasionally dipping my toes into other groups.
My Ult K-POP Groups
My ult group list consists of MONSTA X, MAMAMOO, CRAVITY and SHINee. I found these groups at various times, MONSTA X and MAMAMOO, I found in 2020 during the height of the pandemic. I was bored on YouTube and just started clicking around. I clicked on MAMAMOO’s Dingga and MONSTA X’s Who Do You Love and my life hasn’t been the same since.
I discovered CRAVITY in 2021 as they are labelmates with MONSTA X. When I saw them interacting in MONSTA X’s MON CHANNEL vlogs I knew I had to check them out. All it took was one watch of their MV, Vendi Vidi Vici and I was hooked.
How I discovered SHINee
With SHINee, I’ll admit that I’m just now finding them but I am so in love with their music and content. SHINee is such an iconic K-POP group, I’ve known of them for years but am just now starting to listen. Their music is so innovative and fresh.
I am having so much fun listening to all of their albums. I plan to buy albums soon so I promise to share that with yall! I started listening to SHINee because Allen and Taeyoung of CRAVITY did Taemin’s Guilty dance challenge so I checked out the MV and loved it!
Next thing you know, I’m watching Shawol-made vlogs, The SHINee World documentary on Amazon Prime and adding all their albums to my Apple Music library. I’ve also got tons of SHINee albums in my cart.

In the vlog below, I go into more detail about my ult K-POP groups. It was really fun shooting and creating this vlog as it forced me to make some serious decisions on whose music I truly love.
