In this post, Save Your Pennies: How to Create a Budget to Buy K-Pop Albums, I share tips and advice on how to create a budget to buy K-Pop albums and merch. 

As y’all have probably noticed, I have a large collection of K-Pop albums and merch. And I’m sure you’ve wondered how I am able to afford albums. Well the reason is…I’m very good at budgeting. 

Sample Budget

Budgeting is important even for frivolous things like K-Pop albums. If you can budget properly, you can afford K-Pop albums and merch as well as other fun things like traveling, going to concerts, going out to eat and more. 

To make this easier, I have included a sample budget that you can use as a guide. I created this sample based on my own budget. I hope it’s helpful to you! 

Create Your Budget

I recommend that you create a budget by hand. In your budget, make a list of all your upcoming bills along with the due dates. Also include when you get paid and exactly how much your paycheck will be. 

Next, make a list of all your upcoming necessary expenses. Necessary expenses are things like groceries and gas. Basically, it’s things you have to buy in order to live whereas bills are things like your electricity bill or rent/mortgage. 

Finally, make a list of all the K-Pop albums and merchandise that you want to buy. Include the “out the door” price aka price of the album/merch, taxes and shipping. It’s important to include not just the price of the album but tax and shipping as well because those are additional costs you pay to get the album.
