In this post, K Penny: The Unseen by Shownu x Hyungwon Album Review, I review The Unseen by Shownu x Hyungwon of MONSTA X.
As yโall know, I believe that MONSTA X are The Kings of K-Pop. I absolutely adore their music as I find it to be creative, original and refreshing.
The Unseen by Shownu x Hyungwon was released on July 25, 2023. This album is absolutely a masterpiece! I could never get tired of listening to it.
My Thoughts on The Unseen by Shownu x Hyungwon
Starting with the title track Love Me A Little, this song features Shownuโs smooth vocals while also showcasing his range. In this song, Shownu goes from his lower register to upper register effortlessly. And then when you pair that with Hyungwonโs cool baritone, itโs just the chefโs kiss.
Written and produced by Hyungwon, Love Me A Little is a modern classic. Something about this song is special and memorable. I also love the guitar riffs at the end and the dance break that accompanies it.
Next is Love Therapy. With a rap from Hyungwon, this song is unforgettable. I just like the swag of this song. Itโs so cool and fresh.
Love Therapy has a unique production that takes you on a journey. As the song plays, youโll find yourself hearing different elements each time. I love it because it means the song never gets old or feels boring.ย
My Thoughts on The Unseen by Shownu x Hyungwon
Roll With Me – oh this song is swagged out. With a cool chorus and a dope beat, I have always adored this song.
Roll With Me was also written and produced by Hyungwon. I wanted to make sure I give him his due because he has become a phenomenal songwriter and producer. I really want him to work with Babyface so they can create some truly dope R&B.ย
Play Me is song number four. Once again, this song is just cool. I know I keep using that word but Iโm having a hard time finding another word that describes Shownu and Hyungwon. The word โcoolโ is the definition of this subunit.
I also like the swag that you find in Play Me. It definitely has its own personality and color. I like this song because the beat and the lyrics flow together seamlessly.
My Thoughts on The Unseen by Shownu x Hyungwon
Last but not least is Slow Dance. I love this song now although Iโll admit that certain elements threw me off when I first heard it. It was the โdingโ noise that you can hear throughout the song. I thought it was kind of random and unnecessary. But now I love it.
Slow Dance is a sweet and romantic song. Written by Brother Su (who is good friends with MONSTA X), itโs absolutely a song created by a man in love. Brother Su recently got married and Iโm sure his lovely bride was the inspiration behind this song.
Slow Dance is simply charming. Itโs the perfect ending to an already flawless album. Honestly, The Unseen is in my top five albums for 2023 releases. Itโs just an incredible album.
