In this post, K Penny: How to Join MONSTA X’s Official Fanclub 8th MONBEBE, I am going to talk about how to join MONSTA X’s Official Fanclub MONBEBE. 

I decided to create this post because I have been an avid fan of MONSTA X and K-Pop for 3 years now but for the longest time I didn’t understand what joining the Official Fanclub meant. So I created this tutorial to help international and local fans join MONSTA X’s Official Fanclub. 

Please note, I am no expert and since I don’t know MONSTA X or work for Starship Entertainment, I can only provide info on what I have experienced as a MONBEBE. Also, this post does not seek to speak on behalf of MONSTA X or Starship Entertainment. This is just me sharing what I’ve learned and have experienced with other fans. 

Information on MONSTA X’s Official Fanclub

What is MONSTA X’s Official Fandom name? 

MONSTA X’s Official Fandom name is MONBEBE which means “my baby” in French. 

What is MONSTA X’s Official Fanclub name? 

MONSTA X’s Official Fanclub name is MONBEBE. 

What’s the difference between the Fandom and Official Fanclub?! What does it mean to join the official fanclub? 

Basically, anyone who listens to MONSTA X or follows their content online (and offline) means that you are MONBEBE aka a fan of MONSTA X. 

Joining the Official Fanclub means that you have paid to be a member. As a member of the Official Fanclub, you receive certain benefits and perks that are only available to members. 

So basically, the main difference is that people who joined the Official Fanclub paid to do so. 

How do I join MONSTA X’s Official Fanclub MONBEBE 8th Recruitment? 

To join MONSTA X’s Official Fanclub MONBEBE 8th Recruitment, you must purchase a membership via Melon. 

The cost is 35,000 Korean Won which is about $27 USD. You will also need a Melon account to purchase the membership. Please note it’s easier to use Melon from a computer. Also, the membership fee is a ONE TIME fee.

You can purchase a membership from August 4, 2023 – August 24, 2023. You can purchase the membership on Melon here: https://ticket.melon.com/csoon/detail.htm?csoonId=7583

The membership period is from August 26, 2023 – March 31, 2025. 

The Benefits of Joining MONSTA X’s Official Fanclub MONBEBE

What are the benefits of becoming a member of MONSTA X’s Official Fanclub MONBEBE? 

First, you’ll receive a membership kit that includes a membership card, photobook, photocards, stickers, etc. So if you love collecting physical merch, this alone makes it worth it.

Note: It takes a few months for them to ship the membership kit. Last year, it didn’t ship until December and I bought it in August. 

This is because they print your name on the membership card and they need time to produce the merch. 

The membership also gives you additional perks like being able to buy concert tickets to Seoul concerts during the fanclub presale. Note since MONSTA X is so popular, their concerts usually sell out during the pre-sale. 

Additionally, this year, they offered a discount to fanclub members who watched the MX Friends fan concert via livestream. It was $38 for the livestream & re-stream for fanclub members while it was $55 for livestream & re-stream for non fanclub members. 

Another perk is that you can apply to attend music shows in Seoul when they do comebacks.

You can also be “leveled up” in MONSTA X’s official fancafe. Leveling up allows you to access all the exclusive content that they only post in the fancafe. 

Note: fancafe is where they first announced Joohoney’s solo album, XXL MONSTA X aka Shownu x Hyungwon’s subunit, and where Minhyuk & Joohoney posted the handwritten letters where they announced their enlistments. 

So you really do get exclusive content you can’t get anywhere else.

Why is the membership recruitment limited to 3 weeks (August 4, 2023 – August 24, 2023)? 

To get people to sign up for the membership quickly. 

Why is the membership period August 26, 2023 – March 31, 2025? 

Most likely because they are not planning to do a recruitment in 2024 since Kihyun and Hyungwon will probably enlist this year. 

And with Minhyuk & Joohoney already enlisted there’s no reason to do it in 2024. 

Why do they only recruit new members once a year?

To make being a member of the official fanclub more exclusive. If they limit the time that someone can join, then those who join the fandom later will be ready to sign up when they recruit new members.

Also, they offer exclusive content to fanclub members like photos, videos, etc. Only members of that term can access the content. 

Why is it the 8th term recruitment?

Since MONSTA X is an established group that’s been together for 8 years, they’ve done the fanclub recruitment for 8 years in a row which is pretty incredible. 

It’s the 8th Monbebe because MONSTA X has been together with MONBEBE for 8 years.

My Experience Joining MONSTA X’s Official Fanclub MONBEBE

Are you a member of the official fanclub MONBEBE?

Yes, I finally joined last year in August of 2022. 

I’ve been following MONSTA X since 2020 but at the time, I didn’t understand what joining the official fanclub meant. 

Then in 2021, I missed the recruitment and since I was a broke bebe (MONBEBE without money), I couldn’t afford to join anyway. 

So when I finally had the money and they accepted new members, I was able to join. 

Do you like being a member of the official fanclub MONBEBE?

Yes!!! I absolutely love it. The membership kit was adorable!!! 

They did a classic Y2K themed shoot and the photobook, photocards, posters, etc were so cute. 

I’ve become an avid MONSTA X album and merch collector and it’s some of the best merch they’ve ever done. 

Also I leveled up in the fancafe and it is amazing! Even though everything is usually written in Korean, I use the built in translate feature or take screenshots and upload it to Google translate. 

Also, the members do the cutest posts in fancafe. The members post regular updates and the Starship team always posts exclusive photos and videos whenever they release new albums. They also post about fansigns, video calls, new merch, new albums, etc. 

Basically, I can check fancafe and I know about everything MONSTA X is doing. This means I don’t have to check other social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc to keep up with MONSTA X. I like this because I’m really trying to stay away from social media. 

Also, I was able to take advantage of the discount offered for the MX Friends Fanconcert live stream. 

That saved me some money since Joohoney had just released his Lights album, I.M had released his Overdrive album and Shownu x Hyunwon were about to release their subunit album. Plus ya girl has bills so I can’t spend all my pennies on K-Pop merch.

How do I level up in the fancafe? 

Honestly, this is the part where I’m kind of confused as well. I’ve only been an official fanclub member for a year and it took me some time to figure out how to level up.
