Dear Pennies & Pens,
My heart is so heavy today. As yall know, I’m not active on social media so I often miss a lot of world news. However, over the weekend, I was checking fancafe (a website used by Kpop artists to connect with their fans) when I saw a post asking people not to post photos of the Itaewon tragedy. I didn’t do any research because whenever something tragic happens, I get upset.
So I avoided the issue for the rest of the weekend, however today several of my favorite Kpop artists and YouTube channels announced they would be taking a break and not posting any new content in honor of the national mourning period announced by the Korean government. That’s when I knew I had to do research and find out what was going on.
It was such an unfortunate incident because Seoul is a truly safe & beautiful city. It was just a sad occurrence. That said, I’ve decided to stand with Seoul and not post any more content until next week.
It just doesn’t feel right to continue posting about K Pop when an event like this happens in the city where K Pop originated. The energy feels off because since there’s no new posts even international fans like me can feel the sad vibes from behind the screen.
Let’s continue to pray for the families and their loved ones during this difficult time. Thanks in advance for understanding. Continue to stay in prayer and stay safe y’all.
