Dear Pennies & Pens,
le stylo noir “The Black Pen” is the name of the Black History + Herstory Month issue of de la Pen…All Pen Everything. When brainstorming names for our Black History Month issue, we wanted something that was unique, classy, and chic.
We started searching the internet for inspiration and racking our brains and suddenly, “l’album noir” or “The Black Album”, a line from Jay Z’s 2003 album popped into our heads. So we decided to google how to say the black magazine in French. Realizing that it was like the most fabulous thing ever, we knew we had to move forward with le magazine noir so here it is.
But lo and behold, someone was already using the name le stylo noir. So last year in 2021, we renamed it to le stylo noir. It’s probably a better fit anyway since it’s a play on de la Pen and the color black.
le stylo noir is the definition of All Black Everything because it features Black historical icons, as well as Black fashion, art, music, food, and more. Throughout this issue, you’ll find profiles, interviews, videos, and feature length articles.
And there it is. de la Pen…All Pen Everything. With us, keeping it real never goes wrong.
