Dear Pennies & Pens,
Over the past few months, I have been taking self care more seriously. This is because I was previously a workaholic. I would literally work all the time. After crashing several times, I finally realized that enough was enough. Therapy has also been a gamechanger as far as making me realize how important self care is.
First, if you don’t take care of yourself then everything else falls apart. Think of it this way, you can’t pour from an empty cup. Even God took time to rest. It was tiring creating the whole world in just 6 days!
Questions to Ask Yourself
There are some questions that you should ask yourself on a daily basis to monitor your self care. Those questions are below.
- How did I choose me today? Did I choose me today?
- How did I show up for myself today? Did I show up for myself today?
What to do for Self-Care

- Take a bubble bath
- Listen to music (preferably vinyl, CD or tape)
- Read a book
- Cook
- Clean
- Exercise
- Pray
- Meditate
- Do laundry
- Write in your journal
- Watch a movie or YouTube videos
- Sleep
