Pennies & Pens is a vegan, organic and sustainable lifestyle brand. Our Fall/Winter 2020 collection includes 100% Organic Cotton T-Shirts.
I originally created Pennies & Pens in 2010 when I launched my multicultural lifestyle magazine, de la Pen…All Pen Everything. I inked Pennies & Pens because I wanted to give my audience a name that was on brand.
I also wanted to create a community amongst our audience. Over the years, I’ve been working on developing the Pennies & Pens brand by launching dedicated social media accounts on Instagram and Facebook.
When the pandemic hit, I decided to take an ink-break to regroup. ISLP wasn’t generating the pennies we needed to be profitable and with so much negativity around us, it all felt so pointless.
Then in June of 2020, I started brainstorming new ideas and writing a new business plan. Somehow in August of 2020, we were awarded a Paycheck Protection Loan and that gave me the push I needed to work on the relaunch.
As I was brainstorming product ideas, I knew I wanted to launch something under the name, Pennies & Pens. Since I’ve never been able to find a comfortable T-Shirt that has inspiring, empowering and entertaining messages on it – I decided to create it.
And so, Pennies & Pens started to become a reality. I started researching manufacturers, reading about how to design a fashion line as well as brainstorming ideas for my brand. After months of research and brainstorming, I started working on the collection.
The collection features 20 different designs – I kept it simple – black font on a white shirt. The designs feature original quotes inked by moi.
Each piece in the collection has a message behind it – it’s about inspiring, empowering and entertaining you, Pennies & Pens. It’s also about giving you something comfortable to wear while at home or running errands.
Pennies & Pens is made of 100% Organic Cotton. Organic Cotton is softer and more comfortable than regular cotton because it is free from harmful chemicals. Pennies & Pens T-Shirts also have a printed inside label which means no itchy tags rubbing on your neck.
Pennies & Pens was inked by ISLP. ISLP, The InkSpot, LLC is a creative production company and multicultural creative agency based in Dallas, Texas.
ISLP is a Black + woman owned business. Our CEO LoudPen is a 3rd generation Black American Entrepreneur.
