Dear Pennies & Pens,
First off, I want to start this post off by saying, I love you and thank you for reading de la Pen…All Pen Everything.
Yesterday on Tik Tok/Instagram, I announced ISLPās new social media policy which weāll be rolling out this Fall ā starting this Fall when we relaunch with a new product line, weāre only allow paying Pennies & Pens to follow and connect with us on social media as well as our online magazine, de la Pen…All Pen Everything.
Please note, this is not a subscription service meaning you wonāt have to pay to follow us. What weāre going to do is only allow those who have purchased one of our products to follow us.
The reason why weāre rolling out this policy is because we provide value by entertaining, inspiring and empowering our audience…so why should we give that value away to non-paying customers?
Social media has become a source of free entertainment and Creative Entrepreneurs like me are expected to āfeed the beastā by constantly creating amazing content, posted with the right hashtags at the right time.
And weāre supposed to do it for years until we build thousands or millions of followers before weāll see any return on investment. So how the fuck are our bills supposed to be paid in the meantime? Sponsorships?! Lol, sweetie you gotta have a shit ton of followers to even approach a brand for paying gigs.
So in the meantime, you end up with a bunch of āfollowersā who can read or access your content for free at any time. In essence, you become a slave to the audience/community that you built. People literally expect you to post and get upset when you donāt.
When I finally took an extended break after over 10 years of consistently posting during a pandemic, here come people asking why. Lol ā sweetie, LoudPen/ISLP isnāt Nextflix, you donāt pay me for this shit. I donāt have to post anything anywhere at any time. Sit your entitled ass the fuck down.
Sorry yall, I snapped again. But itās necessary. Because this is the way social media & online entrepreneurship is going.
Mark my words, in the next 3-5 years once the pandemic calms down, all social networks will have paid susbscriptions, top bloggers, influencers, online magazines, etc will all roll out paid subscription services or some type of paid plan.
People and businesses are tired of providing free value. This pandemic proved that social media and blogs keep us all connected and informed. With that being said, No Pennies? No Pen.
And there it is. de la Penā¦All Pen Everything. With us, keeping it real never goes wrong.
PS – This policy is still in the early stages of development and may change later. Also major S/O and THANK YOU to those who supported ISLP since day one.
