Pen Style: Copenhagen Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2020 Day 2 Inkcap

Dear Pennies & Pens,
In this post, Pen Style: Copenhagen Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2020 Day 2 Inkcap, I will talk about Copenhagen Fashion Week

As you may know, I went to Copenhagen back in October and worked with The Andersen Hotel and Danish Design Museum. Since I have always loved Danish fashion, I knew I wanted to feature Copenhagen Fashion Week.

What is Copenhagen Fashion Week?

As stated on their website, “Copenhagen Fashion Week is Scandinavia’s only fashion week taking place biannually in January/February and August. Each season, Copenhagen Fashion Week welcomes esteemed press, buyers and influencers to four days of shows, presentations and events as well as the two trade shows CIFF and Revolver.

Sustainability is the core focus area for Copenhagen Fashion Week. Copenhagen Fashion Week strives towards making substantial changes to the way the event is executed and works to inspire the industry to take steps towards becoming more sustainable.”

Inkcap: My Favorite Designers from Day 2

Remain

As stated in the press notes, “REMAIN is a women’s ready-to-wear brand from Birger Christensen founded in Copenhagen in 2018.

REMAIN is an interpretation of the modern woman. Each collection is created from a desire to simplify life for busy, fashion-consious women living an urban life. REMAIN is easy, affordable dressing shaped as an accessible and contemporary everyday uniform.

Colors, silhouettes and fabrics ensure a valuable and sophisticated look with a strong sense of wearability. REMAIN places focus on tailoring and pattern making combined with carefully selected fabrics. Adding character and per-sonality with the most beautiful colors and artwork is essential for each collection.

With a focus on strong, simple pieces that correspond to current trends, lifestyle and needs, REMAIN represents a wardrobe with contemporary yet classic styles designed to make your wardrobe last for any season and occasion.”

This collection was uber chic! Most of the pieces were black and white with a bit of camel, blue and green pieces. My favorite look was a white dress and a leather jacket paired with boots. It was just effortlessly stylish. I adored this collection because it was wearable yet original.

mfpen

As stated in the press notes, “mfpen is a Copenhagen-based menswear label, founded in 2016 by designer and creative director Sigurd Bank. Working to reinterpret the traditional notion of Scandinavian menswear and seeks to progress the conventional emotions tied to Scandinavian design.

With a background in production, focus is on fabrication and the emphasis is on developing products in high quality with carefully sourced fabrics and an eye for detail and fitting.”

This collection was fresh! It was a modern take on the classics. Mfpen brought back the double breasted jacket (one of my favorite jacket styles) and the results were amazing. Several looks featured this design which made it classically cool. I also adored the coats featured in the collection. The pants were rather baggy which pulls from the styles of the 90s. Overall, it was a dope collection.

MARK KENLY DOMINO TAN AW20

As stated in the press notes, “The brand Mark Kenly Domino Tan provides a high-end selection of luxurious clothing for the modern woman; where exquisite design meets exceptional quality that lasts a lifetime. The brand targets the modern woman who has an eye for exclusive and beautiful design, both luxurious and functional for work and for formal occasions.

Mark Kenly Domino Tan intends to set values that entail respect for a timeless design. Mark Kenly Domino Tan also always designs with a respect for female proportions to highlight the female fortunes today and tomorrow. Silhouettes are minimalistic, feminine and classic. The result is contemporary and yet timeless. The philosophy of the brand is to create beautiful and responsible clothing made of quality materials that can last a lifetime with minimal care.

Mark Kenly Domino Tan is a unique brand in the sense that there is great emphasis on materials. The materials are essential to every collection and serve as a muse. It is a natural part of the design process, to use the fabric as the foundation of a collection.

The collection is divided into five key programs with which Mark Kenly Domino Tan generally works from. It is imperative that the company refines and develops these programs each season. Mark Kenly Domino Tan presents two annual collections – Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter.”

This collection was made for tomboys like me. It had the oversized pieces that we adore. The collection’s color palette stuck to traditional fall colors — black and gray. I loved this because it gave the collection continuity and an overall theme. It was effortlessly cool!

CUSTOMMADE AW20

As stated in the press notes, “Custommade was established in Copenhagen 2002 by Christian Dam. Inspired by a dream about creating custom made and beautiful clothing for the independent woman. Custommade offers an array of urban essentials appealing to a modern-minded and cosmopolitan woman who crave simple sophistication.

Custommade is creatively driven by founder and creative director, Christian Dam and head designer, Anne Rasmussen. With focus on timeless designs with contemporary edge and energy specially focusing on fabrics with a fantastic feel, Custommade creates affordable luxury.

With its strong and recognizable brand identity it perfectly underlines the sophisticated design in a playful and charming way. Poetic, dreamy and fashionable enough to dress up for a quick trip to Paris.

Custommade is fashion for the Magnifique Chic.”

This collection was absolutely everything. I am absolutely in love! The color palette was diverse with bright forest green pieces, pink, black, white and more. My absolute favorite look was a black skirt, white top and green coat. It was magnifique chic as stated in Custommade’s press notes.

STINE GOYA AW20

As stated in the press notes, “Danish designer Stine Goya founded the namesake brand in 2006 after years of working in the fashion industry and witnessing a lack of luster in the Scandinavian colour palette. Inspired by the palette of the Copenhagen city scape, STINE GOYA set out to be the vibrant alternative, and it has been a colourful journey since – more than ten years on STINE GOYA has cemented its unique position as a Scandinavian contemporary on the international stage.

The Studio resides in a listed building, a home reflective of its creative universe, near the royal palace in Copenhagen. The ever- expanding sphere has come to include 3 STINE GOYA concept stores, and presence in some of the world’s finest department stores, online retailers and independent boutiques, including near 300 retailers and 30 markets worldwide.

“We want to empower the women wearing our clothes, there is such an affirming feeling to wearing bright colours and prints. Although our pieces are a bold celebration of individuality and self- expression they are also timeless and wearable designs. We want to extend our universe by adding playfulness to the wardrobe.”

-Stine Goya, Creative Director

Since its inception STINE GOYA has aimed to be a vibrant injection to the Scandinavian fashion scene, a universe that continues to expand, as the brand gains international traction and recognition. Drawing on inspiration from the design and art world, the collections are built on lasting designs, underpinned by bespoke prints that are hand-drawn in-house.”

This collection ranged from bright neon hues to dark prints. It wasn’t the most uniform collection but there were some looks worth taking note of. There was a look with a pink button up and lilac skirt that was truly fresh. I also adored this yellow and orange coat – it was so bold and chic! Another standout was a printed neon dress. My favorite part of that look? The model’s 90s retro style high top fade that was made popular by Kid from Kid n’ Play.

MUNTHE AW20

As stated in the press notes, “MUNTHE is a women’s luxury ready-to-wear label established in 1994 and based in Copenhagen. The brand’s signature style represents the carefree attitude of the cool, casual Scandinavian girl – such as beautiful suits that’s strong but not unfeminine, floaty silhouettes dresses, artistic hand-painted print and a constant innovation in fabrics.

MUNTHE’s design is best known for its artistic hand-painted print, feminine silhouettes combined with contrasting characteristics, which are shown through six annual collections.”

This collection was the epitome of chic! It was just everything. With a diverse range of printed pieces and a color palette with gray, pink, blue and black. My favorite looks were an all black pantsuit, a printed sweater, and a gray pantsuit with the world’s flyest camel colored knee high boots. The boots in the collection were literally life. Bravo all around!
