Dear Pennies & Pens,
In this post, Pen Style: Copenhagen Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2020 Day 1 Inkcap, I will talk about Copenhagen Fashion Week.
As you may know, I went to Copenhagen back in October and worked with The Andersen Hotel and Danish Design Museum. Since I have always loved Danish fashion, I knew I wanted to feature Copenhagen Fashion Week.
What is Copenhagen Fashion Week?
As stated on their website, āCopenhagen Fashion Week is Scandinaviaās only fashion week taking place biannually in January/February and August. Each season, Copenhagen Fashion Week welcomes esteemed press, buyers and influencers to four days of shows, presentations and events as well as the two trade shows CIFF and Revolver.
Sustainability is the core focus area for Copenhagen Fashion Week. Copenhagen Fashion Week strives towards making substantial changes to the way the event is executed and works to inspire the industry to take steps towards becoming more sustainable.ā
Inkcap: My Favorite Designers from Day 1
7 Days ACTIVE
As stated in the press notes, ā7 DAYS ACTIVE is an activewear label dedicated to inspire individual stories of motion for the mind, body and soul. Creating functional pieces for an active lifestyle on and off court.
7 DAYS ACTIVE was created in Copenhagen in the spring of 2019 by Creative Director Malkit Singh and CEO Anders Degn with the purpose of being active in a fashionable way. The AW20 will be the second collection from the team.ā
I absolutely loved this collection. I liked the diverse color palette that included neon colors and traditional staples like purple, black, green and gray. The collection looks fresh and wearable — perfect for runners like me.
Mykke Hoffman
As stated in the press notes, āMykke Hofmann was launched in 2017 by Sedina (Mykke) Halilovic and Jelena Hofmann – two friends who know each other since high school and share more than their Yugoslavian roots and mentality. They are tied by the same values and the idea of a modern woman: determined, uncompromisingly herself and proud of her femininity.
Jelena and Sedina aim to dress women with an elegance that is as effortless as it is empowering and that makes them feel as beautiful and bold as they look. With Pre Spring 2020, Mykke Hofmann enters their fifth season. The label is stocked in over 40 stores worldwide and looking to expand their international growth.
Sedina and Jelena follow a slow and fair fashion approach with designs that are made to last and support European craftsmanship – they run their own production site with about 40 seamstresses in Jelena’s hometown Belgrade, thus being in full control of the manufacturing process.ā
I truly adored this collection! Like 7 Days Active, it was the color palette that I first noticed. With a variety of colors like lilac, orange, khaki, green, white and pink, it was truly unique. Some of the looks have that deconstructed vibe without being too āhigh fashionā aka the pieces are creative yet wearable.
Blanche
As stated in the press notes, āAs a united effort by Fredin and Bech, Blanche was launched in the late Danish spring of 2017, as a sustainable denim brand with an accompanying ready-to-wear collection.
The inaugural collection of Blanche landed at retailers in early 2018. The brand received following acclaim from the likes of Vogue, held its first runway show, ventured into wholesale across multiple markets and commenced sales relations with Moda Operandi along with joining both Tomorrow Showroom and Freudian Kicks.
Blanche combines wear for the modern woman and the act of making the right choices. Blanche is for women, by women. Blanche is timeless with a contemporary outlook. Blanche is organic quality that uses surplus and recycled fabrics across its supply chain.
Blanche is colorful, brave and forever, all at once. Blanche is simple, eternal and made with an eye for quality. Blanche makes it easy for consumers to make the right decision. Blanche is artistic. Blanche is feminine. Blanche is Blanche.ā
I am absolutely smitten with this collection! It is so chic. My favorite look was an all white look with a coat and leggings. It was classic yet fresh. I also loved the color palette as Blanche used truly original colors. With their signature white as well as blue, orange, gray, and black it was so unique. There were also printed looks – Iām not sure if Iād wear these looks but I do like them. Overall, it was a fantastic collection!
Lovechild 1979
As stated in the press notes, āLovechild 1979 is a Copenhagen-based label for modern women who want timeless, luxurious fashion. Creative director Anne-Dorthe Larsen and her all-women design team make clothes authentic to their own tastes, creating pieces that transcend seasons and flow with your personal style. The Lovechild 1979 aesthetic is feminine yet grounded by masculine, tailored silhouettes, effortless prints and styles instantly recognizable by the beautiful detailing.ā
The Lovechild 1979 collection is what I would consider a true Fall/Winter collection as far as the color palette goes. With traditional staples like black, this collection was modern and classic. Each look was unique yet timeless. I could picture myself wearing this collection for years to come. Simply put, I loved it!
