Dear Pennies & Pens,
For the past few months, I have been quietly preparing for The National Black Book Festival. Please accept my apologies that I am just now announcing this here on the blog. This week, I learned that I’m not perfect and there are a lot of things I need to do in order to grow my brand and business. So let me tell you why you should Ink With Us at the National Black Book Festival.
First off, let me tell you about the National Black Book Festival. The National Black Book Festival is the largest African American book event in the South. The National Black Book Festival is an annual event that is sponsored by CushCity.com, one of the largest online sources for African American literature. The event attracts a wide array of authors, publishers, book clubs, libraries and individual readers from across the U.S. This year’s National Black Book Festival will be October 24-26th at Fallbrook Church in Houston. Visit www.nationalblackbookfestival.com to learn more.
Now, let me tell you why you should ink with us at the National Black Book Festival. If you’ve been reading the page for awhile, you know that a few years ago, I started ISLPISLP, a creative production company and lifestyle boutique. I also published my first book #MakeUrPenLoud: How To Be A Lifestyle Blogger. Last year, I published my second book, The Loudest Pen Ever and I just released the print edition (link).
That said, I’ll be selling and signing copies of both books at the event. In fact, this event gives attendees the chance to be the first to purchase a signed copy of The Loudest Pen Ever. I just got the printed copies last week so this is the first event they’ll be available at. Also, if anyone wants to purchase both books, it’ll be 2 for $25. And if you purchase my travel guides, Cruising thru Cali and Chillin in Chi-Town you can get those for $2 off. I want people to be able to support me without breaking the penny bank.
So what’s my ink about? #MakeUrPenLoud: How To Be A Lifestyle Blogger is a narrative nonfiction book that teaches readers how to create content for a lifestyle blog and work with brands. #MakeUrPenLoud offers detailed advice on how to write about fashion, beauty and travel. You’ll also learn how to work with hotels, restaurants, fashion and beauty brands. It’s the book that I wish I had when I started blogging 11 years ago. It’s full of timeless content that is invaluable to creating original content so you can grow your audience and work with brands.
The Loudest Pen Ever is a narrative nonfiction book about life, love, relationships and pop culture. In this book, I share my thoughts and opinions to offer readers an exclusive inside look on what it’s like to be a Black millennial woman and creative entrepreneur. Read this ink to escape your problems, get some loud laughs and be inspired.
Cruising thru Cali is a digital travel guide that offers insight on what to do while in LA, San Francisco, and Napa by featuring Vegan restaurants, multicultural art, breweries and dispensaries. Chillin in Chi-Town is a digital travel guide that offers insight on what to do in Chicago by featuring Vegan restaurants, multicultural art, craft beer, an all-female sketch comedy show and Chicago’s history during the Prohibition era.
Cruising thru Cali and Chillin in Chi-Town are about helping you plan a trip to California and Chicago so you don’t have to sit in your hotel room searching Google + Yelp + Blogs for cool ink to do and good food to eat. Instead, download this ink to your iPhone, Android, or tablet and know what pages you’re going to ink before your plane even touches down. When I travel I focus on discovering local hotspots not tourist traps so each of my travel guides features places like that. So reading them gives you a cool local experience of the city.
To wrap up this ink, this is why you should Ink With Us at the National Black Book Festival. ISLP is a truly innovative company and we’re doing dope shit. We’re the only Black + woman owned company of its kind. So help us keep this page running, you know #InkWithUs.
And there it is. de la Pen…All Pen Everything. With us, keeping it real never goes wrong.
