Dear Pennies & Pens,Ā
There are some hotels that just have āitā — whatever it is. The Radisson RED in downtown Portland is one of those hotels. It is oh so fancy without being pretentious. But letās back it up for just a second and let me explain how I came to stay here on my recent trip to Portland.Ā
Years ago, I worked with Radisson when I stayed at one of their properties in Ft. Worth. Check out that post here. I really enjoyed my stay there so when I started planning my Portland press trip, Radisson immediately came to mind. When checking out their website, I discovered they had created a new brand and collection of hotels called RED. Intrigued, I immediately sought out more information.Ā
And thatās when I discovered their dope website which you can see for yourself here. Radisson RED is Radissonās brand new concept that seeks to appeal to the ageless millennialĀ mindset. Located in the heart of downtown Portland, Radisson RED gives you everything you need to explore trendy, quirky Portland. As it states on their website, āItās a vibrant hotel that matches Portland’s positive and playful vibe. Radisson RED Portland Downtown is an ideal city base which features smart design touches in every room and an upbeat social scene.āĀ
But seriously though, they arenāt kidding. My room was located on the 8th floor and it was HUGE. It had everything I needed and then some. A big comfy bed, a table and chairs, a cute closet, a mini fridge, and a nice sized bathroom. Honestly, my only negative feedback about the room was the shower. Some hotels have adopted this fancy āEuropeanā style shower that only has half a door.
It looks really cute but itās kind of a pain in the ass. Water gets all over the floor and so you have to use all your extra towels to clean up the mess so you donāt bust your ass. Also, itās a little small. Iām petite at 5ā4ā and 100 lbs n change so it worked for me but I canāt help but think that someone double my size in either height or weight may not dig it.
However, letās get back to #positivevibesonly and talk about what else Radisson RED has. Radisson RED has a game room on the second floor and a full service restaurant + bar called OUI Bar + KTCHN. The best part?! OUI does drag shows during brunch on Sundays. Lil baby, I will fly back to PDX to see those Queens in all their glory. I donāt play for the pink team but I support the rainbow coalition, ya dig?! #loveislove
So anyway, my stay at Radisson RED was so brief, yāall. Like it was over before it even started. We had one night only — just like in Dreamgirls. So of course I made the best of it. While there, I checked out the game room which btw, is hella dope! I couldnāt stay long because they were hosting a private event that night but I did get to see it. I also visited OUI, although, I opted to venture out for food and drinks so I could enjoy my last night in Portland.Ā
But I did spend as much time as possible in my room. It was just too flyy! Located on the 8th floor in the corner, my room was a dream. I loved how spacious it was. Also, the decor is stunning! Itās so modern and chic. I loved how they incorporated the red, black, and white color palette throughout the room. Youāll also find those colors in the lobby, hallways, game room, and at OUI.Ā
Overall, my stay at Radisson RED was a dream. I even changed my flight so I could stay longer. I wasnāt ready to leave, yāall. But, I did…guess this means Iāll have to go back sooner than later, huh?!
