Dear Pennies & Pens,
In April 2019, my sister from another mother and I did something EPIC. We went to Denver, Colorado. I canāt take credit for it because it was all my sister Octoberās idea.
In this post, I’m going to scratch the inksurface and talk about Cruizing thru the Mile High: a digital travel guide. I’ll share a few spots that we visited and what we did during our trip to Denver. But first let me shout out my sister, October!
Who is October Flower?
October is the Creator of October Flowers Gardens of Bliss. October Flowers Gardens of Bliss is a health and wellness brand that seeks to educate readers on the benefits of using marijuana.
October talks about different strains of marijuana as well as educating readers on the benefits of using the plant. Itās dope! I am so proud of my sister. Please check her out here: October Flowers Garden of Bliss
Why did we go to Denver?
As far as how the Denver trip came about it was super organic. October and I were cruizing thru Cincy (our hometown) blazing and chopping it up when she reminded me that we started making plans to visit Denver but we never actually went. Since Iāve been traveling like crazy and have made travel a major part of my business, I told October that yes we should go and have fun but we should also make the trip about business.
And so Cruizing thru the Mile High was born. From December 2018 to April 2019, we planned and planned. We landed three amazing sponsors the Denver Art Museum, Corner Beet, and Odell Brewing. Each of these brands is truly amazing. We visited each sponsor on Friday, April 19th.
V-Ink at The Corner Beet
Our first visit of the day was The Corner Beet. The Corner Beet is a Vegetarian restaurant and juice bar. First off, the decor at Corner Beet was so freakin cute! It was very earthy, it reminded me of the restaurant version of Free People. While at The Corner Beet, we sampled the Avocado Toast, Banh Mi, Southwest Salad, Berry Blast, Golden Mango, and house made iced tea.
We seriously loved pretty much everything we had. The only thing that wasnāt quite my jam was the Banh Mi, I just feel like it had too much going on. But I lived for that Avocado Toast and October crushed all of her Southwest Salad. And the drinks were delicious as well.
I would highly recommend The Corner Beet! Be sure to check them out here: www.cornerbeet.com and like their posts on the gram here: @TheCornerBeet
Pen’s Eye at The Denver Art Museum
Our second visit of the day was The Denver Art Museum. It was phenomenal! I absolutely loved the architecture, it is so intriguing and original. Denver Art Museum is right in the heart of downtown Denver. Since we were staying at the Grand Hyatt in downtown Denver it was super close to our hotel.
While at the museum, we spent the bulk of our time checking out Jordan Casteelās work. Jordan Casteel is an African American artist who creates truly stunning paintings of Black people. I absolutely adored her work!
Also while at the museum, we checked out The Incubation Effect. In this exhibition, Denver artist Nicole Anna Banowetz created an immersive āinsect nurseryā made from sewn inflatable sculptures and assembled forms. Outside of the exhibit, visitors can draw their own creature using the paper and colored pencils provided by the museum.
October and I definitely drew our own insects and had a blast doing so. I felt like a kid again — it was pretty awesome! You absolutely must visit Denver Art Museum — itās one of the best ways to Cruize thru the Mile High. LoudBrews at Odell Brewing
Our last and final stop of the day was Odell Brewing. Odell Brewing was so dope! While there, we sampled a selection of their beers on tap. We loved pretty much every beer we tried, although I gravitated towards the lighter pours (as usual, lol!). We had a blast at Odell because itās brewery with great beer and a chill vibe. We visited their RiNo location where they often host events and have live music. We got lucky because there was a band performing that night, I definitely enjoyed their vibe too.
While at Odell, we also made some new friends because October and I just love chopping it up with random strangers…no seriously, we do! We also took selfies with some of Odellās staff members. I told yāall we love people. But seriously, I definitely dug Odell. I will absolutely be back on my next trip to the Mile High City and I want you to meet me there. Check out Odell and learn more about their awesome history and beer here: OdellBrewing.com after you do that, follow their page on the gram: @OdellBrewing
So thatās a quick rundown of #TeamISLPās trip to Denver. Please note this page just barely scratches the surface of our trip. We havenāt told you about the dispensaries we visited, the Snoop Dogg + Ice Cube Concert, or the people we met. Plus weāve got more ink to share about our sponsors.
