Dear Pennies & Pens,
As I mentioned in one of my most recent posts, I became a Vegan about four years ago. In that post, I talk about why I went Vegan and my journey over the past four years. Check out the post here:Ā SkinnyPenny: Why I Became a Vegan
If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I am constantly posting photos of my Vegan creations as well as various different Vegan and Vegan friendly restaurants. Iāve traveled all over the US visiting Vegan restaurants like Nickās Kitchen and VeganBurg in San Francisco, Montyās Good Burger and Beelmanās in LA, Watercourse Foods in Denver, and Spiral Diner right here in my home away from home aka Dallas. I absolutely love creating tasty Vegan eats as well as sampling the work of creative Vegan chefs.
I decided to go Vegan because I wanted the healthy lifestyle change. I never liked dairy milk ā like seriously I used to get in trouble all the time in pre-school for not drinking my milk. As I got older, I began to eat meat less and less naturally. By the time I was in college, I stopped eating red meat and pork. Then four years ago, I visited a friendās restaurant, Seasoned Vegan, in NYC and it was truly a life-changing experience. I havenāt eaten actual meat since ā seriously.
Carnivores are always shocked by this fact. So many people act like meat is the end all be all. But true Vegans like me lose our taste and desire to eat meat. At this point, the shit honestly disgusts me. Iām not even kidding. It no longer looks or smells good. I donāt when this happened exactly but I do know that it did.
But letās get to the main purpose of this post. I wanted to talk about how one can transition into the Vegan lifestyle as well as recommending brands to check out. Recently, I was introduced toĀ Healthlabs.com ā a company that provides fast, affordable, lab testing.Ā Healthlabs.com has created several Vegan tests to help people decide if they should become Vegan or not. I think this is so dope because it factors in the science of the Vegan diet. Plus since they test each person individually, youāll know if the Vegan diet is truly the best fit for you.
HealthLabs offers several Vegan tests to help you determine if the Vegan lifestyle is right for you. In the āBasic Should I Be Veganā Panel, HealthLabs tests your blood to see if youāre allergic to animal derived foods and ingredients. During this test, you are tested for 18 animal derived ingredients and products to see if youāre allergic to any of them. Since they do a blood test, itās a quick and painless way of discovering possible allergies.
Next up, there is the āStandard Should I Be Vegan Panelā ā this test covers 21 animal derived foods and ingredients. Lastly, thereās the āComprehensive Should I Be Veganā Panel ā this test covers 37 animal derived foods and ingredients. Once again, HealthLabs offers not only testing but education. When listing each test on their website, they offer explanations of what the Vegan diet is, why people go Vegan, and the benefits of Veganism. I truly dig this because there are so many misconceptions about Veganism.
I would highly recommend checking out HealthLabs.com. If you are serious about going Vegan, then why not get tested to see if youāre allergic animal products. Plus when family, friends, coworkers, and random strangers ask ignorant questions like ādo you get enough proteinā or āis it hard to be Veganā then you can say, I took a test that was administered by medical professionals and found that I am actually allergic to the following animal derived foods. That will shut them up real quick.
I mean itās one thing to go Vegan so you can be healthier, save the planet, and not kill living, breathing beings just for a slice of bacon with your eggs but to do it because youāre genuinely allergic?! Bruh thatās fire!
So anyway, becauseĀ HealthLabscom is so dope, they provided a special discount code for 25% off Vegan tests for Pennies & Pens. Use the code INKSPOT25 to get 25% off your Vegan test. Check out the tests here:Ā Vegan Testing
And there it is.Ā de la Penā¦All Pen Everything.Ā With us, keeping it real never goes wrong.
