Penny’s Ink: The Back Issue

Dear Pennies & Pens,

So I’m finally introducing an “Editor’s Letter” for de la Pen. Since de la Pen has grown into a lifestyle magazine, we publish it that way. Meaning we produce an issue of the magazine that has a specific focus or theme. This also means that each issue contains 7-10 new articles so it takes time to produce a new issue.

Since we’re still getting the hang of things sometimes content gets lost in the sauce. Or sometimes we’re just blatantly backed up on content. We’ll have articles that are written but they need to be edited, or we’ll have photos from a shoot or event that need to be edited. Other times, we just don’t have the time to create the content because we’re busy working on other projects.

That said, a few months ago we started working on this issue…appropriately titled “The Back Issue”. The Back Issue contains a collection of articles that we simply have not been able to publish until now. It’s funny how the internet makes content that’s only a few months or year old seem like it’s from the 1800s. Lol the innanet moves too fast for the de la Pen/ISLP team! #aintnobodygottimeforthat

Keep in mind there’s only three of us at ISLP and we all still work full time. So shit gets super hectic, b. But somehow we make it work. And as we prepare to launch new products and our online store, we expect revenue to increase significantly which will allow us to pursue our creative work full time.

As far as what you’ll find in this issue, there’s all sorts of gems. The Back Issue features a recap of some of the performances we sent to see last year at the AT&T Performing Arts Center, recaps of two 8515 events, Pen’s Flicks: Black Panther and #MP3, as well as a collaboration with MusebyDC, and an original editorial, All Pen Everything.

There’s also a recap of the Dallas Girl Gang Spring Brunch, and a special feature called #BadPennies which celebrates some badass boss ladies that we know. It’s fabulous issue and well worth the time and energy that it took to create it.

So with no further adieu, we give you 6 months worth of work aka The Back Issue.

And there it is. de la Pen…All Pen Everything. With us, keeping it real never goes wrong.
