Dear Pennies & Pens,
It’s ya girl, LoudPen, here to tell you all about my visit to the Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival. First off, let me just say that the event was fabulous! I had such an amazing time and met some really cool people. And of course, I sampled the tasty eats and sipped wines from some of the best established and emerging wineries in the world.
So let’s get this thing started, shall we? Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival’s main event happens on Friday night at the Pier 1 building in downtown Ft. Worth. Once I checked in, I was given a plastic glass which would serve as my tasting glass for the night. Upon entering the event, I’ll admit to being a little overwhelmed but in a good way.
There were so many different local restaurants from Ft. Worth and Dallas plus all the different wineries. Picture tables with food & wine samplings throughout a massive lobby and you will start to visualize what it felt like to be at the festival. I started off with a Riesling by Lemelson and it was delicious! Riesling is my favorite type of wine so I don’t think one could ever disappoint me. But yet and still, this one was exceptionally good.
I spent a few more minutes walking around the lobby, chatting with other attendees, and sampling more wine. Sadly, there wasn’t much I could eat as the Vegan options were slim but don’t worry I made due with wine. Lol! After spending about an hour or so upstairs, a couple I met said that I should go downstairs as there was a really good Vegan option being served.
I promptly obliged and boy am I glad that I did! I had the “Grilled Spring Vegetable Tartine”, this delish dish was made with Herb Marinated Vegetables and Shaved Fontina served on a Garlic Rubbed Grilled Baguette. It was everything I needed and more. I paired it with a beer (my apologies I can’t remember the name of the brew) and it was a great match! The perfect blend of veggies with a cold brewski.
I hung out at the main event for another hour so, chopping it up with more new friends aka festival attendees. My final sample was a Robert Mondavi Sauvignon Blanc and it was truly drank in the spirit of Vanessa Williams. Meaning I saved the best for last! This wine was everything + everything. Literally, not one complaint or negative thing to say, it was perfect.
Upon leaving the main event, I headed over to the #latenight Desserts After Dark event. This event was held at Panther Island Pavilion and it was truly a pretty sight at night. The lights and the vibe of this event made it my favorite overall. The DJ was dope and the drinks were awesome. The people there were pretty cool too and it was a fun way to end the night.
I spent most of Saturday in bed recovering so I didn’t make it to any of the festival’s events. However, I did attend Family Sunday Funday. This event was super fun and definitely something I recommend for families. There was something for everyone at this event which why I think it’s perfect for families. Sunday ended up being my Instagram day and I proceeded to go HAM by Instagramming some of my favorite spots at the event.
That list includes: Le Monade — a beverage boutique that serves fresh squeezed lemonade (it’s AUH-mazing), Sugar Brown’s Sweet Treats– an online cookie company (I couldn’t eat these since they’re not Vegan but they looked so cute!), Alchemy Pops — a popsicle company that uses local ingredients from Texas farmers (the best popsicle ever!).
So all in all, my experience at Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival was fabulous and I definitely recommend this event to anyone who loves food and wine. It’s a truly unique experience and something you’ll cherish always.
