Dear Pennies & Pens,
So as you all hopefully know, I attended the Pin Show at The Bomb Factory here in Dallas back in February. If you missed the post, check it out here: Press Pen: The Pin Show. While there, I started chatting it up with Shantaquilette Develle who is also a Lifestyle Blogger.
We were both there to cover the event so naturally we talked about fashion, the event, the models, pop culture, life, etc. We had a blast! Once the show ended, we exchanged business cards and promised to keep in touch. After a couple of days, I sent Shanta a follow up email and we ended up setting up a business meeting.
During our meeting, I learned that Shanta has been blogging for about 3 years and that she’s been looking to take her brand to the next level. Over the past few years, she’s worked with a variety of different clients providing style and wardrobe consultations, event planning, home decor, and staging services.
Additionally, she’s written about a variety of topics such fashion, beauty, food, and home decor on her blog, Style Follows Her. However, even though she has many cool projects in the works, Shanta was feeling like something was missing. Like there was a disconnect within her brand that is stopping her from reaching her full potential.
That’s when I realized that what Shanta needed was a brand strategy. A brand strategy is basically a guideline/roadmap that helps you define your brand and outline your goals. With a brand strategy in place, all you have to do is focus on executing. In essence, it’s a vital document that every brand needs.
Additionally, I knew that Shanta would also need a media kit to send to potential clients and sponsors. This way she would be able to tell a potential client who she is, what services she offers, etc. Lastly, I figured the final thing Shanta would need are a couple of pitch letters to send to a prospective client.
Lucky for me, Shanta agreed and so our meeting was a productive one to say the least. After the meeting, I immediately spoke to my fabulous business partner Cacha` about our soon to be client. On our conference call, we talked about the project as far as what needs to be done and how we will do it.
We then created a proposal and sent to Shanta for review. Once we were all in agreement and the payment was processed (cha-ching, lol!), Cacha & I started working on the project. And this Pennies & Pens, is where we currently are.
It’s been amazing working with Shanta because her brand is so unique. I feel blessed to be a part of the team that’s helping take her to the next level. I absolutely cannot wait for the finished product!
