For the past few months, I have been obsessed with Mike Will Made It’s Ransom mixtape. It is both ratchet and on fleek. Ransom features Big Sean, 2 Chainz, Gucci Mane, Juicy J, and many more.
As far as tracks, I bang with Stop, Start, Drinks On Us, and Paradise. These songs take me back to the early days of gangster rap, a time when the beat and flow were so dope you couldn’t help but shake your ass. But the thing about early gangster rap was it had a purpose it was just ghetto.
I think that’s what Mike Will was going for with this album. He was seeking to create something for the hood but that was still good music. Believe it or not that is hard to do.
What’s really crazy is the rappers he had featured on the album. Everyone from Lil Wayne to Kendrick Lamar came through and spit a verse which I think is pretty dope.
I definitely dug the tape overall. I usually bump this one in the whip or on Fridays after a long week. It’s music that gets me crunk and helps me end the week on a gangsta note.
I may be a skinny chick from the suburbs of Cincinnati but I can get low with the best of em.
