Dear Pennies & Pens,
I am so excited to be writing this post right now! After months of planning, budgeting, editing, and research, the first Pen.Style editorials are here! As you all know, back in July, I launched the Give LoudPen Ink campaign. That campaign was about raising funds to shoot the Pen.Style editorials and also for Pen.Point: The Seasoned Traveler.
Even though the campaign was unsuccessful, I decided to press on and launch the projects anyway. I must pat myself on the back because when faced with so many obstacles it can be difficult to persevere. But somehow, I did and now both Pen.Point: The Seasoned Traveler and Pen.Style are here. Moving along, let’s talk about Pen.Style as far as what it is.
Pen.Style is a brand new section of de la Pen…All Pen Everything that features original fashion and lifestyle editorials styled by me. Some of the Pen.Style shoots will only feature me and others will feature models, artists, bloggers, and other entrepreneurs that I have styled.
I’m really excited about the official launch of Pen.Style because although I’ve created mood boards for these posts as well as doing creative direction for the Flavor NYC campaign, I’ve never really gotten the chance to show off my personal style or my styling skills. That’s why I created Pen.Style to build my name and portfolio as a stylist. With no further adieu, let’s talk about the first Pen.Style editorial!
For this shoot, I worked with Megan Mueller who is a Dallas based photographer. We shot at The Omni Dallas who I featured in the Pen.Point: The Seasoned Traveler series. When I was going through the photos from the shoot, this look triggered the memory of Funny Face and I couldn’t stop singing the song Think Pink.
Funny Face is a movie that stars Kay Thompson, Fred Astaire, and Audrey Hepburn. In the film, Kay Thompson sings a song called Think Pink because she’s a magazine editor and they needed a new theme for the magazine to make it more exciting. After seeing some pink ribbon, Kay breaks out into song and dance with the new theme Think Pink.
So how did I create this look? A few months ago while in Dallas, I picked up a fabulous top from Strut which is a boutique in the Bishop Arts District. Then I have some pink skinny jeans from Express and dope heels from ALDO. This look is so fun and colorful and it really matches my personality. This look screams Think Pink and I’m in love with it!
I’ve worn this outfit to many different places; I wore it on a date (we went to a bar to have drinks), out with the girls, and of course for this shoot! It’s a great outfit because the top and pants are really comfortable. The heels are sky high, I estimate at least 4.5 inches so they’re not the most comfortable but they are the most fabulous.
When I get dressed, I dress for my mood, the weather, where I’m going, and the look I want to portray. This Think Pink look is for when I want to look bold and sexy but not like I’m trying too hard. As far as the jewelry, the earrings are from Wal-Mart and the necklace and bracelet are from a street vendor in NYC.
I believe that everyone has their own unique personal style, it’s just a matter of digging deeper to find it.
