Pen.Point: The Seasoned Traveler…The Places My Pen Dreams of Inking

Dear Pennies & Pens,

Earlier this year, I launched Pen.Point: The Seasoned Traveler because I wanted to showcase unique travel and hospitality brands. Each brand featured has products or services that can enhance your lives. Most of the brands featured are hotels and spas.

I would love to expand the series by also featuring museums, art galleries, restaurants, shopping areas, and other attractions. I also want to feature more destinations, cities, and locations.

My dream is to create custom trips for each city featured in the series. In essence, the series would then be a guide that would feature recommendations on hotels, spas, museums, art galleries, restaurants, shopping areas, and other attractions.

I truly believe this would be a great benefit to you because you wouldn’t have to search the internet and build your own trip. I am working on making my dream a reality, until then, I’ve been thinking about the places I’d like to visit.

When I think of traveling, just about every location in the world comes to mind. I’ve been to Europe, the Bahamas, Central Asia, and traveled throughout the U.S. But I still feel like I haven’t been anywhere. I just love traveling, it allows you to expand your mind and experience new things.

Therefore, I’d love to share with you, Pen.Point: The Seasoned Traveler…The Places My Pen Dreams of Inking. With no further adieu, check out the list below.

1. Los Cabos – This first destination is very near and dear to my heart because on September 15th, Los Cabos was hit by Hurricane Odile. The hurricane left most of Los Cabos without electricity and many of the hotels, resorts, and golf courses were forced to close.

Thankfully, the Mexican tourism board is hard at work to restore Los Cabos.  The hotels, resorts, and golf courses have already begun to reopen which is great.

Also, the Mexican tourism board just launched a new advertising campaign designed to support the recovery effort, entitled “Los Cabos – Unstoppable”. Check out the Unstoppable campaign on Facebook here: Facebook.com/LosCabosTourism.

From the looks of it, Los Cabos is recovering nicely, which is awesome! Los Cabos is a unique destination that offers many attractions to the traveler. Los Cabos is located on the Baja Peninsula, west of Mainland Mexico, and below Southern California.

In Los Cabos, you can visit places like Lover’s Beach, Golden Cactus Gallery (an art gallery in Cabo San Lucas), shop at Luxury Avenue, or eat at Baja Cantina Marina.

You can also experience water sports like snorkeling, wave running, and whale watching via Baja’s Water Sports. For hotels there’s, the Wyndham Cabo San Lucas and Capella Hotel & Resort. With so many options, it’s no wonder that I dream of visiting Los Cabos. For more info on Los Cabos, check out their website: Visit Los Cabos

2. London – As I stated in my post about London Fashion Week, I swear I was English in my former life. Oh how I love British culture! Sadly, I’ve never been to London but I plan to go sooner than later. London is a cultural, artistic, and fashion capital.

With so many famous attractions, it’s no wonder that London is the 3rd most visited city in the world. In 2013, 16 million international visitors came to London. Most visitors come to London during the peak months, July and August.

So what keeps so many people coming to London? Well next month The Royal Academy of Arts will be have an exhibition featuring the work of celebrated artist Allen Jones. In general there are amazing museums like the Victoria and Albert MuseumDesign Museum, and the British Museum.

Then there’s restaurants like Mayfair Kitchen and Clos Maggiore. Also, if you love shopping, you can’t beat iconic department stores like HarrodsHarvey Nichols, and Selfridges. For goodness sakes, Selfridges was voted the number one department store in the world!

For hotels, there’s The Beaumont, a brand new boutique hotel that just opened September 29, 2014. The Beaumont is owned by restaurateurs Jeremy King and Chris Corbin. The Beaumont has 73 rooms including 23 suites, it is grand in style yet intimate in feel.

I fully intend to visit London to sip afternoon tea, see if the Queen is in, and visit all of the above locations. Be sure to check out Visit London for more information on all things London.

3. Copenhagen – As you all have probably noticed from previous posts on Copenhagen Fashion Week, I love Danish and Scandinavian art, design, and culture! For those that don’t know, Copenhagen is located in Denmark.

One of the coolest things about the Danes in Copenhagen is that they are eco-conscious. In fact, 55% of Copenhagers commute by bike. Additionally, 71% of the hotel rooms in Copenhagen hold an eco-certification which is the highest in any capital city.

Copenhagen has many different things to see and do. There’s museums like the Arken MuseumKunsthal Charlottenborg, and The National Gallery of Denmark. Then there’s Noma voted the best restaurant in the world by British Restaurant Magazine and Manfreds where you can get great wine and food.

As far as shopping, there’s streets like Jaegersborggade, Istedgade, and Stroget that are filled with independent boutiques, department stores, and shopping centers. Cool fun fact, Stroget is the largest pedestrian shopping street in the world.

For hotels, there’s plenty of options as well. The Andersen Hotel is a brand new boutique hotel in Vesterbro (Copenhagen’s most hip quarter), and Avenue Hotel which is an award winning boutique hotel.

What I love about each of these locations is that they are unique and original. Each destination brings something different to the table. However, each place is known for amazing art, music, fashion, and culture. Not to mention having awesome hotels to stay in while visiting.

And there it is. de la Pen…All Pen Everything.
