Dear Pennies & Pens,
A couple of weeks ago, I was skimming my email and came across news of Photographer Gray Malin’s latest work, The Dream Series. Upon opening the email, I discovered photos of colored sheep in Australia. Of course I was immediately intrigued, desiring to learn more. I visited Gray’s website and learned that the photographer just shot a new series. Today, I would love to introduce to Gray Malin and The Dream Series.
As I previously mentioned, The Dream Series was shot in the Australian farm country. Gray’s new images are about captivating our wildest dreams and opening our minds. The series explores vivid colors and delightful subjects in a picturesque landscape.
A lover of all animals, Gray Malin worked to pursue his imaginative concept of giving ordinary, often overlooked, sheep, a way to shine. “We are individuals, and we should not be afraid to bare our true colors, dare to dream, and shine for all to see,” Malin states.
Gray’s vision of capturing images of sheep in a rainbow of color didn’t happen without intense planning and careful consideration. Specifically, Gray consulted with veterinarians and the third-generation farmers regarding the use of an all-natural vegetable-based color for the animals that easily rinsed off with water.
“As they huddle together in a flock, it’s often difficult to discern one sheep from the next. My ‘Dream Series’ portrays the sheep as individuals – in some instances becoming a rainbow of color. This series represents the individuality of all living things, and highlights the importance of following one’s own personal dreams.”
Gray hails from Dallas (my favorite city!), but now lives in L.A. Gray attended school in Boston where he studied marketing and communications. Today, his work can be seen all over the world from J. Crew’s flagship store in London to the homes of celebrities along both coasts of the United States. Gray has an affinity for travel, and his adventures are often his greatest inspiration.
I love Gray’s work because it is creative and imaginative. His work makes me see color and possibility, fun and relaxation. I see so many different elements and layers in his work. His photos are relatable and artistic.
I truly believe that Gray is a talented photographer and not just because of his accolades, his work is something that inspires me. Please check out Gray’s work here: Gray Malin.
