Dear Pennies & Pens,
A few months ago, I happened to be cruising through the internet and I somehow discovered the New Cities Summit event. After checking out their website, I knew it was something, I had to cover here on de la Pen…All Pen Everything. I love events that are educational and interesting!
Some of you may remember when I wrote these posts Press Pen: Japan Fashion Now at FIT, Press Pen: BRAG (Black Retail Action Group) Executive Roundtable and Gala, Press Pen: Africans Creating Technology Panel Discussion, Press Pen: Origin Africa – Celebrating the New Africa.
So what is the New Cities Summit, you ask? The New Cities Summit is the leading global event on the future of the urban world. The Summit is a platform for action-oriented discussion and knowledge sharing among leaders, thinkers and builders of global cities. The theme of this year’s event is Re-imagining Cities: Transforming the 21st Century Metropolis.
The New Cities Summit will take place in the Dallas Arts District from June 17 – 19, 2014. The Summit will be held in the acclaimed Winspear Opera House, designed by Foster & Partners, in the heart of the Dallas Arts District – America’s largest contiguous arts district.
There are a variety of prominent speakers confirmed for the event. Speakers include: Mike Rawlings, Mayor of Dallas, Betsy Price, Mayor of Fort Worth, Mpho Franklin Parks Tau, Executive Mayor, Johannesburg, and Huang Rui, Artist and Founder, Stars Group and 798 Beijing Art District plus many more.
There will be panel discussions with the various speakers throughout the event, not to mention tours of Dallas and Fort-Worth, as well as parties and receptions. The event will also include the App My City contest which you can find out more about here: www.appmycity.org
Overall, the event seems like it’ll be pretty cool. I’m looking forward to learning from the innovative leaders who will be at the event as well as doing some awesome networking! Be sure to follow me on social media for live updates throughout the event.
