Dear Pennies & Pens,
Just a little over two weeks ago, we reached the one year anniversary of the death of one of music’s greatest icons. I remember where I was when I first heard the news of Whitney Houston’s death. It was right after a New York Fashion Week show and I insisted to a friend that it couldn’t be true. And yet here we are one year later.
Whitney Houston The Voice, the Music, the InspirationĀ is a book written by one of Whitney’s close friends and ProducerĀ Narada Michael Walden. In this book, Narada remembers the early days of Whitney’s career. He tells readers how he came to meet Whitney for the first time when she was about 13 years old and how a few years later, she was a budding singing sensation. It was during that time, that Narada produced “How Will I Know” which became one of Whitney’s biggest hits.
The book is a lovely personal inside look into the life of one of music’s legends. Whitney was not only beautiful but talented. She was multifaceted and this book is definitely an indicator of that. I enjoyed the personalĀ anecdotes from Narada as well as quotes from other artists who collaborated with or met Whitney.
Overall, I would definitely say check this book out. It also has some amazing photos of Whitney, including one of Whitney, Babyface, LA Reid, Stevie Wonder, and of course the book’s author Narada. Man, what I would’ve given to be a fly on the wall when that pic was taken. VisitĀ InsightEditions.comĀ to purchase a copy of the book.
And there it is. de la Pen…All Pen Everything.
