Dear Pennies & Pens,
I am so excited to be reviewing the Elliott Evan Fall/Winter 2013 collection because it was menswear! It’s been awhile since I’ve covered a full blown menswear show so I was excited to see what Elliott would be showing this season. And thank goodness, the collection was phenomenal! There was not once piece I didn’t like. NOT ONE. Lol.
So where did this awesome “NEVER FOREVER” collection come from? Well I’ll let Elliott’s quote on the inspiration for the collection answer that one:Ā āNEVER FOREVER is deeply influenced by the form of the male figure. That is what initially took hold of this collection, while developing, in the pattern process, and delving into what makes a man masculine – it took a turn at a certain point during the study, and the emphasis began to evolve into a shape which breaks barriers while maintaining what makes a man strong. The strangest dreams brought out the reaching for comfort in an attempt to explain the high collars, drapery and fabrication. The feeling of forever, yet knowing this will not last; the shapes, the fabrications – are sometimes undefinedā¦ that isĀ ElliottĀ Evan, and the known, unknown of male form.ā
The collection includes pieces thatĀ build on the male form and then extends the silhouette with high collars, drapery and fabrication, all carefully handcrafted. I absolutely loved this concept. It was very fresh, cool, and futuristic at the same time. Although, the pieces may be too “out there” for some I truly loved everything. And honestly, I think the jackets could be worn immediately, any fashion forward guy is looking for what’s next now and those jackets are it.
I also loved the color palette. My favorite piece was a mustard jacket (and yes, I secretly would like to have one for myself) because that color is so unique and combined with the design…DOPE! I have absolutely no complaints about this collection and I look forward to seeing Elliott’s show next season. Please check outĀ ElliottEvan.comĀ to learn more.
And there it is. de la Pen…All Pen Everything.Ā
