Dear Pennies & Pens,
So as you may know, New York Fashion Week kicks off next week. *runs away screaming “save me”* No but seriously, New York Fashion Week is a cool, stressful, fun, entertaining, stylish and exasperating event. Since, I focus on covering international and multicultural fashion, sports, beauty, film, art, and music, I’m always on the look out for events that reflect that.
In essence, when I found out that Depesha Magazine would be teaming up with the Russian Federation in New York to present the Russian Fashion Industry Presentation and Reception, I knew I would want to attend and cover the event.
As far as the event, it will showcase pieces from a canon of modern Russian designers: Pirosmani by Jenya Malygina, Serguei Teplov, Vardoui Nazarian, Dmitry Loginov ARSENICUM, Tegin, BEssARION, Arngoldt, Irina Shaposhnikova, Sergey Polyakov, Viva Vox, Bezous, Izeta, and Aleksandr Khrisanfov. A renowned Moscow fashion stylist, Natalia Sych curated universal all-black pieces from each designer to unify the fashion presentation.
As far as the event, Stephan Rabimov, DEPESHA founder and editor-in-chief says, “By supporting Russian fashion industry at home and abroad, we are working to not only showcase the brightest Russian designers, but also to develop a keen interest in Russian fashion products among U.S. and global consumers of style.”
Personally, I am really excited about this event. It’ll be interesting to get a glimpse of the Russian fashion scene and I’d love to see these designers grow and develop a presence in New York and the US. Since I had a brief layover in Moscow when traveling to Central Asia, I experienced some of Russian culture so I’m anticipating what it’ll be like to see what Russian fashion has to offer. So until my official event review, I bid you adieu.
And there it is. de la Pen…All Pen Everything.
