Press Pen: Chris Benz S/S 2013 Show Review

Dear Pennies & Pens,

It’s Pen here to report on Chris Benz’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection which was recently presented at New York Fashion Week. The Chris Benz show took place at Avery Fischer Hall and many editors, bloggers, stylists, and celebs came out to see the show in full force. Since this was my first time at a Chris Benz show I was very excited to see what the collection would entail.

According to the show notes on Fashionista.com “Chris took interest in the intersection of the beautiful and the ugly”. The result was an interesting mixture of colors, prints, shapes, and silhouettes. However, it worked perfectly. The collection featured something for everyone because there was so much diversity sprinkled throughout.

A girly tomboy such as myself might rock an oversized sunflower yellow and orange sweater or the oversized white sweater or maybe even one of the cool cigarette trousers that were shown. The girly girls might opt for a white dress with a lace top that was somewhere between a 1940s & a 1950s reference, and the quintessential lady may opt for a sunburnt yellow suit that was classic, bold, and chic. The bolder more daring fashionistas would definitely want to add one of the printed looks in their closet. My suggestion would be a green & red printed shirt with a solid white top and the sunburnt yellow & red blazer.

Overall this collection was definitely one of my New York Fashion Week highlights. It was very stylish and I know that everything was well made. Not to mention while at the show, I met Beyonce’s Stylist Ty Hunter and the designer himself, Chris Benz. Sadly, I didn’t get a pic with Ty but check out the pic of me & Chris below.
