Dear Pennies & Pens,
It’s Pen here to report on New York Fashion Week (finally, lol). My first show was last week and was Erin Brarr’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection. I recently featured Erin Barr for Designer DiscussionĀ here. As I said in that post, Erin’s S/S 13 collection was inspired by a fictional collaboration between artist Frank Stella and actress Marilyn Monroe. In essence, Erin presented a collection inspired by the 50s, optic shapes, and cool colors.
The collection was fantastic! It was updated 50s chic mixed with cool downtown New York girl. The color palette was pretty simple, only white, red, black, and some grey pieces. My favorite pieces were the red & black ones because there was a pencil skirt with that print as well as a dress. I also feel in love with the all white ensemble from below and the white trench with the black piece on the bottom.
I loved this collection because it flowed brilliantly. It felt like it was well thought out and executed. Every piece leads you to the next one and it moves seamlessly. I think is amazing because it’s often hard for newer designers to have such a cohesive collection but Erin has proved that she can do. After all high fashion should be like a good story, it should have a beginning, middle, and end. With this collection, Erin has proved that she is a storyteller and there is a happily ever after, after all.
And there it is. de la Pen…All Pen Everything.Ā
