Dear Pennies & Pens,
It’s Pen here reporting on Katya Lenovich Fall/Winter 2012. First off, let me give you the disclaimer that this was one of my FAVORITE shows of the season. This was that show you actually remember days/weeks after fashion week ends. And being that I saw over 20 shows, that is saying something.
Moving right along, for Fall/Winter 2012, Katya showed a beautiful collection that was a mixture of edginess, romanticism, and intricate details. Katya used water colors on dresses, pants, and leggings, and solids on jackets, pants, and skirts. The water color dresses were my favorite pieces because they reminded me of a painting (funny enough I discovered that Katya is also a painter) and the colors were mixed in a truly unique manner. All the pieces featured fabulous details that I’m sure took some lovely seamstress hours to perfect however it was all worth it in the end.
I love the fact that this collection was shown presentation style because as I’ve said before I prefer a presentation over a runway show because it gives me time to really look at the collection and take pictures at my leisure. In essence, I was able to see the details in the clothes, as well as the setting of The Box (where the presentation took place at Lincoln Center), it was decorated with paintings of New York which served as one of the inspirations for the collection.
Overall, it was an amazing collection and I can’t wait to see how Katya grows as a designer for future collections.
And there is is. de la Pen…All Pen Everything.
