Dear Pennies & Pens,
For this week’s, Model Mondays I wanted to feature another Chinese beauty, Liu Wen. Some of you may remember that a few months ago I did a post on another Chinese model,Ā Shu Pei Qin. Liu Wen is definitely an IT girl in the modeling industry. Since, her career began in 2005, she’s been on the cover of Chinese Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. Not to mention the fact that she’s been on the runways of major fashion firms like Chanel & Jean Paul Gaultier.
As I said earlier, Liu Wen began modeling in 2005 and since that time she has been breaking barriers in the fashion industry. She was the first ever East Asian model to walk in a Victoria’s Secret show which she did in 2009 and last year (2010) she was selected to be a brand ambassador for Estee Lauder. In essence, Liu is leaving breathing proof that Chinese beauty is breaking the mainstream’s glass ceiling.
I for one celebrate models like Liu because she beautiful and ethnically diverse. Being that de la Pen celebrates international & multicultural fashion, style, beauty, and music I love highlighting diversity within the industry. Liu is proof that slowly but surely the industry is becoming more diverse.
Liu’s best features are her eyes and lips. She’s an Asian beauty that non-Asians can relate to and find attractive which is key to making her a global model or international icon. Liu’s is a face that’s hard to forget and so I hope to see more & more of her over the coming years.
And there it is. The Fashion & Style of the Pen…de la Pen.
