Press Pen: Style.uz: Igor Chapurin Show Review

Dear Pennies,

As you all know I am currently in Tashkent, Uzbekistan covering Style.uz Art Week. Two days ago, I had the pleasure of attending the show of Russian designer Igor Chapurin. The show was an amazing collection mostly consisting of dresses although there were a couple pairs of paints and one of my favorite outfits was a yellow off the shoulder top with a black belt and black pants. The sleeves puffed out at the end and it reminded me of a shirt Lauren Bacall wore in “How To Marry A Millionaire”.

There were also several black dresses both short and long lengths. With these dresses, Igor seemed to be playing with dimension and cut. Some dresses were one shoulder, while others criss-crossed, and as I said they came in both short and long lengths.

Additionally, there were some red dresses. One red dress had fringe on the bottom, while the other red dress was a spaghetti strap dress. There was also a dress that was a play on asymmetry as the design in front was made of different fabrics. The colors on the dress were black and beige. The bottom half of the dress was purple with a matching purple belt. It was a very chic look and I could see several different types of women from all over the world wearing it.

Lastly, my absolute favorite piece was the first dress shown. It was a yellow dress that stopped above the knee and ruffled at the bottom. I’m a huge tomboy so I rarely wear dresses but for that dress, I would gladly make an exception. It was so well made and I’ve been dying for a dress just like it. Overall, I enjoyed the collection immensely and I’ll definitely be following Igor as his line continues to grow. Also, check out the video of the final walk (posted below).
