Dear Pennies,
First off, please accept my sincerest apologies for neglecting you for so long. I have been in the background working to accomplish today’s announcement. Next week, I will be in Tashkent, Uzbekistan covering Style.uz Art Week. If you’re a loyal Penny, you remember that I covered Uzbek designer, Gulnara Karimova’s Guli Collection during New York Fashion Week. If you missed it, you can read the show review here:Ā http://delapen.wordpress.com/2010/09/12/press-pen-guli-collections-show-review/.
The Guli Collection show was the first time I’d been exposed to Uzbek culture and fashion and I was thoroughly impressed. The fabrics were lovely, and there were interesting silhouettes and I loved the color palette. In essence, I’m excited to see what other Uzbek designers have to offer. During Style.uz Art Week there is a show for emerging designers from Uzbekistan. Additionally, the event was created to encourage young artists who also participate in the event.
Style.uz Art Week differs from other fashion weeks because it incorporates art, tradition, modernity, and music. The event attracts a wide range of people since it also hosts well known fashion shows such as Balmain and Max Mara. Also, musicians such as Rod Stewart and David Guetta have attended the event. In essence, I am excited and honored to be a part of such a prestigious event.
I will be blogging about Style.uz Art Week exclusively so please make sure to check the blog for updates. Additionally, I’ll be tweeting as much as possible so please follow me on Twitter for live-tweeting action. (@LoudPen).
And there it is. The Fashion and Style of the Pen…de la Pen.
