Dear Pennies,
Yesterday, I attended the General Idea runway show. This was my first ever full on men’s fashion show. General Idea is a fashion line by Bumsuk Choi. Bumsuk is Korean and at 26, he was the youngest designer to join the Seoul Collection in the Republic of Korea. After seeing Concept Korea last Thursday, I was excited to be seeing the designs of another Korean because I really feel like Korean fashion is the next big thing. Now onto my review of the show.
The collection began with an all white outfit made of polyester and cotton. I really liked the high collar and the simple silhouette. Also, the red sneakers really made the outfit pop. Next the collection moved to a red coat, white shorts, and a see through white top. I liked this outfit, although, I don’t see any of my male family members or friends wearing a see-through shirt anytime soon. In essence, the shirt was nice in theory but most men probably won’t wear it.
One of my favorite pieces of the collection was a red jacket with white sleeves and red on the wrists. I love the classic varsity boy look on a guy. Call me conservative, but I’m a fan of a man in simple yet bright colors, and a clean silhouette. There was also sky blue jacket that was just like the red one. I also adored the newsboy caps. I love the newsboy cap because I’m obsessed with the fashions of the 20s and 30s when these hats first appeared.
Overall, I loved the General Idea collection and I’d proudly date any male who wears it. Also, I’d recommend the collection to any man who loves the preppy, clean & classic look. The colors used would look awesome in Spring/Summer and the clothes definitely appeal to different age ranges. Although, I think it will sell best to males who are fashion conscious and in their 20s to early 30s.
And there it is. Press Pen reporting live from de la Pen…the Fashion and Style of the Pen.
